Kristen Oertel, the new Mary Frances Barnard Chair, will give a keynote address at The 2010 National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom Conference.  Her talk, "'Emancipation without proclamation':  The Underground Railroad in Kansas, 1854-1863,' will be presented on Friday, July 30th.

The conference, "Battleground For Freedom:  The Underground Railroad on the Western Frontier" is being held July 28-31, Topeka, Kansas, and is sponsored by the National Park Service and the Organization of American Historians.
