FILM FESTIVAL - Women's and Gender Studies Program

Women's and Gender Studies and Film Studies presents a Film Festival, "Embracing the Intersections: Queer Women of Color and Film," a 90-minute screening of a collection of documentaries and short films.  Monday, October 17 at 7:30 p.m. in Meinig Recital Hall, Lorton Performance Center.

 

  1. Two Embrace - Encounters with European Christians change the measure of Two-Spirit ambassadors.
  2. Traditional Indigenous Values - counters the dissonant frequencies of colonization Prop 8.
  3. The Gift of Family - Black lesbians raising children reveal the gift of family.
  4. Con Una Lengua Que No Es Mia - A woman mourns the loss of language and legacy. 
  5. Legally Challenged - A South-Asian lesbian couple finds love legally challenging.
  6. Help Wanted - Does not apply to a genderqueer Asian looking for employment.
  7. Off in the Key of D - A smoking talented jazz trumpeter makes a decision that will change her life forever.
  8. With Conviction - Queering sex and resilience, Fat Femmes seduce with conviction.
