2014 History Department Awards

The 2014 History Awards Reception and Phi Alpha Theta Induction were held in the McFarlin Library Student Study on Thursday, April 17th at 6:30p.m. 

History Club Co-President, Shaun Raguse presented Dr. Joseph Bradley with the Thomas H. Buckley Award for Teaching Excellence.  The Buckley Award recipient is chosen from student nominations.

Undergraduate Honors

Dr. Andrew Wood  presented the Kimberly Hangar Awards to the following undergraduate students:

    Lower Division:  Lindsey Boulden , Maile Seto, and Walker Womack 
    Upper Division:  Katie Snyder and Randall Young

Dr. Thomas Buoye presented the James Ronda Award to Michael Mancini.

Dr. Jonathan Arnold presented the Leopold von Ranke Award to Randall Young

Dr. Andrew Wood presented the William A. Settle Jr. Award to Casey Johnson

Dr. Joseph Bradley presented the Bessie McAlpine Sullins Award to J. Christopher Proctor


Graduate Student Honors

Dr. Christine Ruane presented the William A Settle Jr. Award to Leanna Duncan

Dr. Jan Wilson presented the Thomas H. Buckley Award to Leanna Duncan 

Dr. Jeremy Kuzmarov present the Kimberly Hangar Award to Jared St. John

Ms. Nancy Leake Sevenoaks presented the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America Scholarship to Arley Ward


Phi Alpha Theta Induction 

Undergraduate students must complete a minimum of 12 semester hours (4 courses) in History, achieve a minimum GPA of 3.1 in History and a GPA of 3.0 or better overall for membership.  Graduate students should have completed a minimum of 12 semester hours towards their Master’s Degree in History, have a GPA of better than 3.5, and shall have completed approximately 30% of the residence requirements for the Master’s Degree.  Membership in Phi Alpha Theta is a lifetime membership 

Dr. Jonathan Arnold initiated the following students:

Lacey Holleman, Casey Johnson, Jakob Lancaster, Brandon Macy, Hutton Person, Hayley Poindexter, Jessica Provencher, Carter Scarbrough, Michael Smith, and Walker Womack .
