Our Faculty and Staff
The Faculty of the Department of Languages actively presents and publishes new scholarship, creates and teaches new curriculum in ways that engage and challenge our students, and helps design advanced independent study options for our majors. Many such options include community service. Current scholarly projects among the faculty include an allegorical and intertextual reading of Vicente Blasco Ibáñez’s Los argonautas (Christopher Anderson), language rights and the Jewish diaspora in Greece (Eduardo Faingold), representation of Morisco identity in early modern Spain (Gioia Kerlin), African film (Lydie Meunier), the relations between literature and philosophy in contemporary French thought (Karl Pollin), visuality in Thomas Mann’s Die Geschichten Jaakobs (David Tingey), political allegory in Sophocles’ Oedipus Tyrannus (Victor Udwin), and representations of the body in early 20th-century Latin American literature (Bruce Dean Willis).
