Dr. Daniel Conway will present, "The Minding of Isaac: Philosophical Reflections on Genesis 22".
McFarlin lecture is Sunday, October 28, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. in the Chapman Hall Lecture Hall.
A native of Terre Haute, Indiana, Daniel Conway received his B.A. in Philosophy and Economics from Tulane University, and his PhD in Philosophy from the University of California, San Diego. He has held faculty appointments at Stanford University, Harvard University, The Pennsylvania State University, and Texas A&M University, where he is Professor and Head of the Philosophy department. He has lectured and published widely on topics pertaining to 19th Century Philosophy, Social and Political Philosophy, Environmental Philosophy, Philosophy and Literature, and Philosophy of Religion. He is the author of three books, the editor or co-editor of eleven volumes, and the author of eighty philosophical articles and essays. His recent publications include essays on Nietzsche and Kierkegaard and a book-length commentary on Nietzsche’s On the Genealogy of Morals.
