McFarlin Professor of Philosophy Jacob Howland awarded Grant

The $25,000 grant, one of only 20 such awards given nationwide by the NEH in 2009.
McFarlin Professor of Philosophy Jacob Howland was awarded an National Endowment for the Humanities Enduring Questions Grant. The $25,000 grant, one of only 20 such awards given nationwide by the NEH in 2009, will allow Howland to teach a special course entitled “Enduring Questions: Mortality and Meaning, God and Suffering.” This four-credit course, which will be open to freshmen and sophomores, will be offered for the first time in the spring of 2010.
