TU Graphic Design Students Awarded at Lightning Awards

School of Art graphic design students, past and present, won many Creative Lightning Awards, which are sponsored by Oklahoma State University Advertising Club.  Of the over 60 entries from five Oklahoma universities, our students won about a third of the prizes.   The award ceremony was held on Saturday, March 27th, 2011, at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater.   

Gold Award Winners include Madeline McKeever for the black and white photography Warrior, Jill Christensen for 2-d design Untitled, Eryn Sweeney-Demezas for magazine ad Old Spice, Luca Cavallaro for logo design Swan Lake, Taylor Smith for the brochure Visual Thinking and for the brochure Tulsa Performing Art  Center Trust, Annalise Brady for motion graphics Too Many Daves, John Stern for the illustration campaign Red Heat Poster and Invite, and Sean Terska for the magazine layout Tuna’s End.

Silver Award Winners include Andrea Maduro poster design Rocky Horror, Sean Terska for Personal Postcards, poster design Springfest and Typeface, Eryn Sweeney-Demezas for poster design Cherry Street Farmers’ Market, logo design Gottfried Prairie and Arboretum, and Personal Postcard Series

Bronze Award Winners include Luca Cavallaro for Eye of God, Annalise Brady for poster design Lust, John Stern for Man From Nebraska Poster and logo design Newblock Park, Eryn Sweeney-Demezas for illustration Typeface, Amanda Morton for invitation design Beautiful Night Neighborhood/Kendall Whittier, Andrea Maduro for motion graphics Sensemaya. 

Two students were awarded Certificates of Merit at the Brass Ring Awards for the University of Oklahoma in Norman:  Taylor Smith for Addy 44 Book and Sean Terska for Dreams.

In addition, TU Ad Program won a Gold award for State Farm Plans Book and a  Silver award Cool Old Guy at the DISTRICT level Addy Awards.
