Stanley Lewis, 2011 Ruth Mayo Distinguished Artist, Exhibits in the Alexandre Hogue Gallery

Lewis The School of Art presents the 2011 Ruth Mayo Distinguished visiting Artist, Stanley Lewis.  Lewis’ exhibition,  “Painting and Drawings”,  will be on exhibit in the Alexandre Hogue Gallery from November 10th to December 15th.   

This well-known painter and teacher is currently a professor at the New York Studio School, in New York City.  Lewis’s perceptual tactile approach to the New England landscape uniquely reveals the common everyday landscape through a lengthy process of inspection and tactile construction. His painterly landscape paintings and abstract studio improvisations will be on display for this exhibition. 

Lewis will lecture about his art on Thursday, November 10th, from 4:00 to 5:00 pm, in Phillips Hall’s Jerri Jones Lecture Hall.  A reception will follow in the Hogue Gallery until 7:00 pm.
