TU Art Faculty, Whitney Forsyth, was invited to participate in the City Arts Center fundraiser, ArtNow.
For the past 21 years, City Arts Center has celebrated the invitational exhibition – Café City Arts. This year, the fundraiser takes on a new name with an inspiring list of artists that work in a variety of media including; paint, photography, ceramics, printmaking, sculpture, mixed media, video, and installation.
Guest curator, Romy Owens, painstakingly selected 25 artists from across the state to participate in the exhibition. “I began with a list of over 100 Oklahoma artists and chiseled it down to 25. I was looking for artists who are creating exceptional work both in terms of technique and concept within each type of media,” said Owens.
Proceeds from the fundraiser enable year-round visual arts exhibitions in the Eleanor Kirkpatrick Gallery to remain free of charge to the public. Artists participating in the exhibition donate 50% of their art sales to benefit City Arts Center.
“The committee has worked fervently to make this exhibition unique and inspiring to the Oklahoma art scene,” said Mary Ann Prior, Executive Director of City Arts Center. “We are bringing something new and visionary to art enthusiasts as well as increasing awareness of the importance of art in the community. Art Now is City Arts Center’s inaugural event showcasing statewide talent and it is going to be quite spectacular!”
