Art and Communication = Advertising. A winning combination!

University of Tulsa Ad Program students placed second in the 10th District National Advertising Student Competition (NSAC). The District is made up of college students from Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma. Junior, Olivia Coye was awarded Best Presenter from among the nineteen college teams that competed for a chance to go to the National Competition in June.
The Ad Program is a collaborative effort between the Art and Communication Programs. The program was created to allow students the opportunity to participate in the real-world of account services and the creative field of advertising. Program Director, Teresa Valero and faculty advisor, Bill Hinkle provide experience and
leadership to the students throughout the learning process.
The NSAC provides the opportunity for students to develop an advertising campaign and presentation in response to a real-world case study. Students research the product and its competition, identify potential problem areas and create a completely integrated campaign for the client. Each team then presents its campaign to a panel of judges. This year the focus was on the Glidden brand and customer awareness at Wal-Mart stores across the country
