Program Objectives

 Art program objectives


Students who complete the undergraduate program will:

  1. Demonstrate competentency in the practice of discipline-based studio areas.
  2. Engage in art critical and art historical thinking and writing.
  3. Produce studio and commercial portfolios needed to succeed in the job market and/or in graduate school programs.

Art History program objectives


Students who complete the undergraduate program will:

  1. Demonstrate knowledge of major monuments and artists in their specific cultural-historical context.
  2. Apply knowledge of the above to a specific art historical problems (e.g., what makes a work of art meaningful or worthy of study).
  3. Write about art, demonstrating effective research skills, intellectual analysis of source material, critical thinking, and effective writing skills.
