Undergraduate Research Opportunities
Undergraduate have access to various competitive cash awards. These include:
The Alexandre Hogue Outstanding Senior Award (Named after the first director of the School of Art and funded by the Jerri Jones Endowment for Art Department Awards)
The Thomas A. Manhardt Outstanding Ceramics Student Award (Named after a beloved former Professor of Ceramics and funded by the Jerri Jones Endowment for Art Department Awards)
The Jerri Jones Advanced Study Award (Funded by the Jerri Jones Endowment for Art Department Awards)
The Sarah Clark Memorial Award for Best in Printmaking (Named after a former MFA printmaking student)
The Sarah Clark Memorial Award for Best in Art History and
The Sarah Clark Memorial Award for Best in Graphic Design.
Various cash prizes are awarded for art works submitted to the Annual Gussman Juried Student Art Exhibition (2008 marks the 42th annual!), held each spring in the Alexandre Hogue Gallery. An outside juror chooses about 9 prizes per year. The event is funded by the Herbert and Roseline Gussman Foundation.
In addition, the Office of Research offers Student Research Awards. We encourage students to apply for various awards for external funding, as well as for exhibitions.
