TU Alumna named Owasso teacher of the year

Amanda Schockemoehl-Cook (BA ’05) has been named Owasso Public Schools 2010 District Teacher of the Year.

Schockemoehl-Cook earned her degree in elementary education from The University of Tulsa in 2005 and began teaching 3rd grade at Owasso’s Northeast Elementary in 2006. She has served in that position for the last four years.

She grew up in Owasso and attended Owasso Public Schools.

Owasso school officials said Schockemoehl-Cook is described by her students, parents and co-workers as perky, intuitive, knowledgeable, creative, compassionate, sincere and dedicated. Her efforts have made each learning experience meaningful and memorable.

Schockemoehl-Cook and her husband, Dennis, have been married for five years and have a two-year-old son, Brent.
