TU Opera Theatre

Thursday, April 24, 2014 from 07:30 PM to 09:00 PM

Free and Open to the Public

The University of Tulsa Opera Theatre, directed by Brady McElligott, presents two comic works: First, an updated version of J.S. Bach’s Coffee Cantata; when a daughter spends all her time and money in the pursuit of expensive lattes, what’s a mother to do? Sung in English, The Latte Cantata will provide an answer to this dilemma…perhaps. Also on the program is our recreation of the very first made-for-radio opera, Menotti’s The Old Maid and the Thief. Join our 1939 radio studio as we present the trials (and temptations) of an old spinster who is quite used to controlling the morals of her town, but can’t seem to control her own household. Complete with sound effects and radio jingles from the era, this is another performance you won’t want to miss. Presented Wednesday, April 23 and Thursday, April 24 at 7:30 p.m. in Meinig Recital Hall. Admission is free.
