2nd Annual Oklahoma Jazz Camp

Jazz in July
The University of Tulsa School of Music, and the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame present the 2nd season of the Oklahoma Jazz Camp. The week long day camp is open to all music students, (instrumental and vocal), grades nine through college, with all levels of skills and experience. The camp begins on Monday, July 11, and conclude with a 4 p.m. showcase concert on Saturday, July 16. The camp fee is $200.
Location and Facilities
The Oklahoma Jazz Camp will be held on the TU campus. Classes and rehearsals will be held in the newly constructed Lorton Performing Arts Center. Additional activities and performances will take place at the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame's "Jazz Depot".
Camp Placement Audition
An orientation meeting and placement audition for all students will begin at 2:00p.m. in the Lorton Performing Arts Center on Sunday, July 10. Student should prepare a jazz selection, etude, or solo transcription to demonstrate performance style and technique. Students are also urged to demonstrate improvisation skills: this requirement, however, is optional for those entering at a beginning level of experience.
Camp Fees
The fee includes all materials, classes, music and camp T-shirt. Limited scholarship assistance is available for qualifying students.
On-Campus Housing and Meals Camp Enrollment
To enroll, mail the attached camp registration form with a $25.00 (nonrefundable) deposit (or the full amount) made payable to the "Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame". College students may apply for credit through the jazz studies office at the University of Tulsa. Full payment is due on or before July 5, 2011.
