Jessica Scott is an Applied Instructor of Deaf Education. She has worked as a classroom teacher and reading specialist exclusively in schools for the Deaf and hard of hearing, and has additional experience as a university adjunct instructor and educational consultant in schools. She has worked on projects with the Center for Visual Languages and Visual Learning (VL2), based at Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C., and the American Sign Language Linguistics Research Project (ASLLRP), based at Boston University in Boston, Massachusetts. Her research interests include the relationship between English literacy, particularly academic language development, and American Sign Language proficiency. Jessica is also interested in the writing development of Deaf students, and action-oriented school based research at programs and schools for the Deaf and hard of hearing. She is a licensed reading specialist, as well as licensed Elementary Educator, Deaf Educator, and English Language Learner Educator in multiple states.
