Scholarship Opportunities for National Merit Finalists

Presidential Scholarships

Selection Criteria

Based on PSAT/NMSQT selection index and the advancement to finalist in the National Merit Program.

Eligible Students

All admitted freshmen designated as National Merit finalists who select The University of Tulsa as their institution of choice with the National Merit Scholarship Corporation will be considered.

Application

Appropriate National Merit Scholarship materials must be completed.

Award Amount

Full tuition and basic room and board for four years. Basic room and board is defined as the cost of double occupancy in a residence hall with a 19 meal plan.

Additional Information

Awards are funded by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, Oklahoma Regents, the university and any "outside" scholarships for which the student has qualified. Renewable for four years, provided 3.25 grade point average and full-time status are maintained.

Honors Program Scholarships

Selection Criteria

Determined by admission to the Honors Program based on exceptional performance in high school curriculum, ACT and/or SAT scores, and Honors Program application essay.

Eligible Students

Admitted freshmen.

Application

Honors Program application form with essay (available from Honors Program Office or Office of Admission) and a transcript must be submitted.

Award Amount

$1,000 per year.

Additional Information

Participation in Honors Program course work is mandatory. Honors House residence hall is available. Must maintain 3.0 grade point average for the first year. A 3.25 grade point average is required thereafter. Best consideration is given to applications submitted prior to February 15.

University Scholarships

Selection Criteria

Determined by exceptional performance in college preparatory high school curriculum as indicated by grade point average, class rank, ACT and/or SAT scores, and demonstrated leadership in high school.

Eligible Students

Admitted freshmen.

Application

No additional application form is required.

Award Amount

Up to $8,000 per year for four years.

Additional Information

Renewable, provided 3.0 grade point average and full-time status are maintained. Students receiving a university scholarship are not eligible for the University Excellence Award.
