Academic Scholarships

The University of Tulsa recognizes outstanding academic achievement, talents, and leadership qualities by awarding numerous merit scholarships each year.  Recipients represent a wide range of economic, cultural, and geographic backgrounds and are expected to continue the tradition of contributing to the rich academic and extracurricular life at The University of Tulsa. 

Presidential Scholarships

Selection Criteria

The most gifted students in the freshmen entering class are considered for the Presidential Scholarship, the highest academic merit award given by the university.  The award is determined by exceptional performance in a rigorous high school college preparatory curriculum as indicated by grade point average, class rank, ACT and/or SAT scores, and demonstrated leadership in high school. 

Eligible Students

National Merit and National Achievement Finalists listing TU as school of choice, National Hispanic Scholars, and students who rank in the top 5% of their high school class and top 1% on standardized college entrance exams will be considered.  National Merit Finalists must indicate TU as school of choice with the National Merit Scholarship Corporation by the first roster deadline.  Students who would like to be considered must complete and submit the TU application for admission and scholarship by February 1st and the Presidential Scholarship application form and essay by February 15th.

Award Amount

Full tuition and basic room and board for four years. Basic room and board is defined as the cost of double occupancy in a residence hall with a 19 meal plan.

Application Process

The Application for Admission and Scholarships and academic record will be used to determine scholarship eligibility. Eligible students may complete the Presidential Scholarship application to be considered for the scholarship.

Additional Information

Awards are funded by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, Oklahoma Regents, the university and any "outside" scholarships for which the student has qualified. Renewable for four years, provided 3.25 grade point average and full-time status are maintained.

Vision Scholarships

Selection Criteria

Determined by exceptional performance in college preparatory high school curriculum as indicated by grade point average, class rank, ACT and/or SAT scores.

Eligible Students

National Merit and National Achievement Finalists listing TU as school of choice, National Hispanic Scholars, and students who rank in the top 5% of their high school class and top 5% on standardized college entrance exams will be considered.

Dean's Scholarships

University Scholarship

Selection Criteria

Determined by exceptional performance in college preparatory high school curriculum as indicated by grade point average, class rank, ACT and/or SAT scores, and demonstrated leadership in high school.

Eligible Students

All admitted freshmen will be considered. 

Application

The Application for Admission and Scholarships will be used to determine scholarship eligibility

Award Amount

Up to $12,000 per year.

Additional Information

Renewable, provided 3.0 grade point average and full-time status are maintained.

Honors Program Scholarships

Selection Criteria

Determined by admission to the Honors Program based on exceptional performance in high school curriculum, ACT and/or SAT scores, and Honors Program application essay.

Eligible Students

Admitted freshmen.

Application

Honors Program application form with essay (available from Honors Program Office or Office of Admission) and a transcript must be submitted.

Award Amount

$1,000 per year.

Additional Information

Participation in Honors Program course work is mandatory. Honors House residence hall is available. Must maintain 3.0 grade point average for the first year. A 3.25 grade point average is required thereafter. Best consideration is given to applications submitted prior to February 15.

International Baccalaureate Scholarship

Selection Criteria

Determined through verification of participation in the International Baccalaureate diploma curriculum.

Eligible Students

Entering freshmen who have fully participated in the International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma curriculum

Award Amount

$3,000 per year.  This amount may be added to a University Scholarship, not to exceed tuition.
