Applying for Financial Aid
Students seeking federal and state financial assistance must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible after January 1. Here are the steps you need to complete for priority awarding.
- Apply for federal PIN at www.pin.ed.gov to electronically sign the FAFSA. Both student and parent (if dependent) must have a PIN. The parent whose financial information is being supplied on the FAFSA is the one to apply for the PIN. This will also be used to electronically sign master promissory notes should you apply for student loans. Protect this number as you would your social security number.
- Complete FAFSA online. Be sure to list The University of Tulsa on your FAFSA. Our school code is 003185. January 1, 2014 is the first day you can complete the FAFSA for the 2014-2015 academic year. The PRIORITY deadline to apply for aid is March 1, 2014. TU's priority deadline is the recommended date for best consideration. Aid applications received after that date will still receive consideration; however, it is in the best interest of the student to apply as early as possible. Oklahoma residents participating in the Oklahoma Tuition Aid Grant (OTAG) program have a priority deadline of March 1 for best consideration.
- TU encourages students and parents to utilize the IRS Data Retrieval Tool for importing tax information from the IRS to update the FAFSA application. Please click here to help you determine if you are eligible to use this tool.
