Duties of the Position: The work studies are required to do a multitude of assignments. Serve as first contact in the School of Art. Monitor flow of incoming and outgoing guest to the gallery. They offer clerical support for the department faculty, this could include photocopies, typing, database input, check the library for needed reference materials, scan articles and slides. The work studies also distribute the mail and UPS deliveries. Perform data entry, distribute fliers around the building and campus. Work studies will be responsible for answering the phones and running errands. They assist visitors with locating faculty and general receptionist duties, as well as being responsible for help with setup/cleanup for gallery receptions and exhibits. Gallery receptions and exhibits take place in the evening, evening hours will be required once a month for the opening reception. Light housekeeping throughout building and studios are required as well.
Skills Required to Perform the Position: Good people skills and the ability to work with little supervision. Must be able to perform word processing and database entry. Use of computer, copiers, scanners and printers. Dependability is a plus. These students must be adaptable and willing to do whatever is assigned at the time (with proper instruction of course).
