Title of Student Position:  Administrative Assistant

Duties of the Position:  Provides administrative and clerical assistance to staff in the assigned office and/or department. Responsibilities: learns and effectively performs general office duties and completes multiple projects with deadlines in an efficient manner; utilizes skills in word processing, data entry, database management, filing and record-keeping to accomplish specific project tasks; provides courteous, timely, and professional service to all internal and external customers/constituents/patients/volunteers; effectively manages and shares information and resources; demonstrates an understanding of community programs, services, information, and other resources available to the American Cancer Society and its customers; accurately and effectively represents the Society and its mission; acts in the best interest of the organization and enhances the image of the American Cancer Society in the public eye; adheres to all American Cancer Society privacy and confidentiality requirements; escalates complex issues to the appropriate knowledgeable resources; supports and collaborates with team members to achieve goals and outcomes related to American Cancer Society Mission and Nationwide Priorities; maintains a positive and professional work environment; serves as an advocate of diverse groups and focuses on meeting their underlying needs; performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Skills Required to Perform the Position: Associates degree and at least one year of customer service, data entry or administrative assistant experience or equivalent course completion; independent self starter with effective problem solving skills and the ability to analyze and integrate information from relevant sources and make appropriate decisions; excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills and the demonstrated ability to work with diverse individuals and groups; remains composed under stress and takes responsibility for delivering on personal and organizational goals and commitments; ability to respond to changing circumstances and priorities in a focused and timely manner; proactively addresses issues as they arise; basic math skills and ability to handle multi-line phone system; proficiency in web navigation including use of search engines; demonstrates ability to type 50 wpm and proficiency with Microsoft Office software required.
