Duties of the Position: To assist abuse victims calling the 24 hour Crisis Line in decision making for change and provide information on DVIS/Call Rape programs and services. Be available at home or by cell phone to be connected to a call forwarding system at assigned times. Be a resource person in regard to community services. Be a referral/information/support person. Assist callers in crisis in finding their own solutions. Agree to work a minimum of 2 crisis lines shifts per month.
Skills Required to Perform the Position: Must be 18 years of age; complete volunteer application and pre-interview questions; successfully pass OSBI background check; sign and abide by DVIS/Call Rape confidentiality agreement; have phone availability; proven written, and especially, verbal communication skills; reside in Tulsa or surrounding areas. Must be able to verbally communicate effectively and with empathy for victims of abuse.
