Today’s Tuesday with Tulsa blog post comes to us from Oriana A., a marketing and advertising major from Tulsa, Okla.

Since its founding in 1889, Tulsa has produced a rich history of art, music and culture. Nowhere is this more prominent than in the Brady Arts District, just a five minute drive from TU’s campus. Hosting historical music venues such as The Cain’s Ballroom and the Brady Theatre plus a slew of locally-owned bars, restaurants and galleries, there is never a dull weekend in this thriving area.

Being a Tulsa native, I have a lot of love for the Brady District. One of the activities I love most is the First Friday Art Crawl. Being in college, money can sometimes be a bit tight, and the Art Crawl is a perfect way to spend a Friday evening without breaking the bank! On the first Friday of every month, every gallery in the district opens their doors free of charge for patrons to come view work from local and regional artists. There are even vendors selling homemade jewelry and the glass blowing studio will give demonstrations on how they create some of their most intricate pieces. Continue reading
