Falling for Fall

Hello!

I’m so, so happy that it’s finally October! I love the month of October! Even though it is the month of midterms and crazy schedules, the weather is beautiful, the Cardinals are in the playoffs, and the fall clothes finally get dusted off. Homecoming is right around the corner, and that means Parents’ Weekend! I can’t wait to see my family…it’s been almost two months since I’ve seen them! I love having them come down to TU and experience the vibrant atmosphere of the campus. They love going to football games and seeing the bonfire, and it’s always fun showing them the city of Tulsa while they’re down here, too. It’s nice bringing my family life and my school life together, because it’s like having the best of both worlds!

Lately I’ve been having a ton of fun in Tulsa! Last Friday night I went to the State Fair with a bunch of people in my research group, and we had a blast! We ate our way through all of the greasy fair food, rode all of the sketchy carnival rides, and all of the guys tried to show off by playing all of the fair games. Sadly, they didn’t win any big, oversized teddy bears for us girls, but we still had a great time! Then last night I went to my first home football game of the season because I didn’t end up attending the OSU game…I was at the game for the original kickoff time, but then the rain delay caused kickoff to be pushed back to 12:15 am, and I ended up falling asleep. =( Whoops! It was great seeing a football game, though, and I’m excited for the rest of the season! Today my sorority had a date function where we all went bowling, and that was was really fun, too! It’s been a really great weekend, and I can’t wait for the beautiful fall weekends to come. From biking on Riverside to competing in the McNellie’s Pub Run in November, the fall season has so much to offer! I can’t wait!

Talk to you again soon!

The Best Season of the Year!

It is TU Football season, which means it is the best part of the school year. I have enjoyed going to the home games, and watching the away games at the Hurricane Hut on campus with my friends. This year I am on Student Association and am the ED of Athletics. That means my job is to promote athletics, and run tailgates for the student body. I am so happy I am able to this because I absolutely love our athletics and one of the reasons I came to TU was because it was the smallest D1 School. Tonight was awesome 41-24 was the ending score against UNT, the weather was perfect, seeing my classmates and friends on the field playing great topped it off.

Back to School

It’s Emily here. It’s amazing what happens in a year. Last September I was not knee deep in a new semester, I was knee deep in a new job. I was just becoming acquainted with exactly what it feels like to live a dream and had just met the people I now consider some of my closest friends.  I had just made the leap from intern to someone who oversaw an intern. Now I’m an intern once again.

As every year has since I graduated from high school, last year completely transformed me. I’m certain that my senior year at TU will be no different. Reaching senior year is awesome, but it’s also scary. I don’t know what comes next.

Still, we are experiencing a real fall season in Tulsa this year, which is a rare and wonderful thing. The crisp, cool air signals coming change and sweater weather. Maybe it’s just me, but the world seems like a better, more manageable place when I’m wearing a cozy sweater.

And now, in honor of the return to school, a campus classic:
