Title of Student Position:       Office Assistant/Lab Assistant and Web Page Designer

Number of students requested to fill above position:  4

Duties of the Position:   This person will be responsible for making copies, answering the phone, typing, filing, helping our professors with lab set ups and helping with designing our Physics Web pages. They will also help in assisting with the following duties:

 

            Students will assist in maintaining spreadsheets of class rosters for our faculty in the department.

 

            Students will help with Book Request Forms to Follett Bookstore for each semester for the department.

 

            Students will help in contacting sales representatives and publishers requesting desk and review copies of textbooks for department.

 

Student will type and duplicate syllabi for our faculty in the department.

 

Students will help maintain a spreadsheet of all keys issued for the physics department.

 

            Students will assist in maintaining database records of all lab passes for the department.

 

           Students will help maintain and file all purchase requisitions – departmental and Research/Grant accounts.

 

            Students will maintain efficient office operations, Receptionist (personal contact and phone) for the department.

 

Students will sort through the mail for the department.

 

Students will assist with making airline reservations and Hotel reservations.

 

            Students will maintain stock of supplies for the department - including all TU forms, letterhead, and any supplies used for instructional purposes. 

 

 

Typ

Skills Required to Perform the Position:  All of the above and typing at a steady pace, computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

 

Students will be required to work on a daily basis and do the tasks that are required of him/her.  Students will answer to the Secretary of Physics.

 

Recommended Student Classification Level :   II
