“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.” -Mark Twain, Innocents Abroad

Favorite place in the world:  San Miguel, Mexico and Kyoto, Japan

Summary of Travel Experience:  I was a latecomer to international travel.  I grew up in New Mexico, and my first significant international experiences were as an undergraduate when I met the exchange students that lived in my residence hall.  I remember eye-opening conversations with my German and Australian neighbors about how differently they viewed the world. It was then that I decided to travel, and the experience was life-changing.  I’ve traveled extensively in Europe, Asia, and Mexico.  I studied German with the Goethe Institute in Murnau, Germany and completed two Fulbright grants in Germany and Japan.

Countries visited: England, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, The Netherlands, Czech Republic, Denmark, Switzerland, Austria, Finland, Japan, China, Singapore, Thailand, India, Vietnam, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, Bonaire, and Canada.

“The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeing new landscapes, but in having new eyes.”  -Marcel Proust

Favorite place in the world: Provence, France

Summary of Travel Experience:  My first experience abroad was when I was in high school and I spent the summer living in Germany after having met German and Danish exchange students at my school.  After this short period abroad and combined with my desire to learn foreign languages (I was studying French, German and Latin at the time), I was hooked!  I backpacked through Europe when I was in college with two friends which was the most memorable adventure ever. I continued my studies in French and German and spent another summer in Germany and two years in France as a student.  Because I love travel as well as photography (they seem to go hand in hand), I look forward to my next opportunity to discover new lands. My current goal is to learn Spanish which I began less than a year ago.  I hope to one day get to South America, Morocco and West Africa.

Countries visited: England, France, Spain, Italy, Czech Republic, Poland, Germany, Denmark, Switzerland, Belgium, The Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Mexico and China.

‘The world is a book and those who do not travel read only a page.” – St. Augustine

Favorite place in the world: Belo Horizonte, Brazil, my hometown.

Summary of Travel Experience: I was born and raised in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. My first experience abroad was visiting Walt Disney World in Florida when I was 15. Then I decided to be an exchange student in the USA as a senior in High School. After that I had the travel bug and had to continue exploring: I lived in Switzerland and Denmark for a year and traveled all over Europe, volunteered with a relief-aid organization in Malawi, Africa, and came back to the USA in a few different programs. While attending graduate school in Vermont, I went to China to work with a group of Chinese English teachers for 3 weeks. My last trip was to Italy to visit my sister who lives there.

Countries visited: Brazil, USA, Canada, Portugal, France, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, The Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Czech Republic, Poland, Belarus, Russia, Malawi and China.

The greatest joy of working at TU and with the staff at CGE is the interaction with the students who are experiencing their dreams. Going abroad to gain knowledge and understanding is one of the greatest achievements in ones life.
