How to Apply: The Exchange Application Process

Step 1
Be nominated by your university to participate in TU’s exchange program. For this, contact your home university’s study abroad or foreign office.

Step 2
Take the TOEFL or IELTS to prove English proficiency. 
All students whose first language is not English are required to provide evidence of English proficiency as part of their exchange application to TU by taking the TOEFL or IELTS.

Minimum TOEFL Requirement

Undergraduate students:
Paper test = 500
Computer test = 173
IBT (internet test) = 61

Graduate students (including MBA):
Paper test = 570
Computer test = 230
IBT (internet test) = 88-89 (Business & Arts Science Colleges)
IBT (internet test) = 79-80 (Engineering & Natural Sciences College)

Note: Arrangements should be made when taking the TOEFL to send original scores directly to the University of Tulsa from ETS.  Tulsa’s institutional code:  6883

Minimum IELTS Requirement

Undergraduate students: Band 5, Graduate students:Band 6

Step 3
Fill out and submit the following application materials to TU.

TU International Undergraduate Application for Admission
May be sent either via email, via post, or via FAX.

Confirmation of Financial Resources
Must be sent via post with bank’s official seal/stamp.

Original TOEFL (or IELTS) Score
Original scores must be sent via post directly from ETS to CGE.

Letter of Motivation
This letter should indicate why you are interested in studying at TU.
May be sent either via email, via post, or via FAX.

Official, sealed home university transcript
Must be sent directly from your university to the CGE.

Copy of passport
Scan a legible copy of your passport.
May be sent either via email, via post, or via FAX.

Step 4
When all of your application materials have been submitted, you will hear from the CGE regarding your status. 

If you are accepted, the CGE will mail you a letter of acceptance and necessary materials and instructions regarding the next steps to becoming a TU student.
