About Oklahoma

In 1907, Oklahoma, America’s Heartland, was admitted as the 46th member of the United States of America. With a population of 3,580,000, Oklahoma is home to two large cities, Oklahoma City, its state capitol and largest city, and Tulsa, home of the University of Tulsa and the state’s second largest city.

Geographically, Oklahoma borders Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, Texas, and New Mexico. Culturally, the state’s heritage includes Native American, Hispanic, African, and cowboy influences, with an economy based on petroleum production and ranching. The state is famous for its beautiful open spaces, which provide spectacular views of sunrises and sunsets.
