General Information
The university offers a number of different fellowships and assistantships to full-time graduate students. Awards are made upon the recommendation of the applicant's discipline. Stipends vary according to the amount of work required and the experience of the student. Tuition scholarship awards of up to nine credit hours remission of tuition per semester will be based on academic achievement. Tuition for the 2008-2009 academic year is $856 per credit hour for new graduate students and $817 per credit hour for continuing graduate students.
Students awarded financial assistance must be enrolled in at least nine hours, but not more than 12 hours, of graduate work during a regular semester. The enrollment requirement during summer is at least one hour, but not more than six hours. Special permission is required to deviate from these hours except in the last two semesters of enrollment before the completion of a master's degree or in the last four semesters before the completion of a doctoral degree. Students must also maintain a 3.0 grade-point average; hence, students on probation are not eligible for consideration.
The University of Tulsa considers that a full-time graduate student receiving a graduate assistantship has a full-time commitment. Any employment in addition to the assistantship is specifically prohibited. Any violation of this policy will result in the immediate termination of the assistantship. Any request for an exception to this policy must be submitted in writing to the Graduate Program Adviser and must receive the approval of the Graduate Program Adviser and the Graduate Dean.
Application and reference forms are available from the office of the Graduate School. Application deadline is February 1, and recipients will be announced in early April. Reapplication is not automatic. Recipients of an assistantship must reapply in order to be considered in subsequent years.

Any enrolled graduate student who is a senior author on an abstract and orally presenting research conducted at the University of Tulsa may apply. The maximum amount of an individual award will be $1000.
