TRACK FOUR--JOINT PROGRAM IN HISTORY AND LAW

 

The curriculum consists of 78 semester hours of law courses as established by the College of Law, 18 hours  of graduate course in history, and 24 hours of prerequisite undergraduate history courses.  Applicants to the program must file two separate applications, one with the Law School and the other with the Graduate School.

 

 Primary Fields 

            Ancient World and Europe to 1700

            Europe Since 1700

            United States

            Asian, Russia, and Latin America

            Comparative History: thematic field defined by adviser and approved by graduate committee

 

Requirements—Thesis Option 

Hist 7003  The Nature of History 

15 semester hours in a major field of concentration. 

6 credit hours of thesis.  Students will participate in a thesis defense upon completion of the thesis. 

Total: 24 credit hours

 

 

Requirements—Non-Thesis Option 

            Hist 7003  The Nature of History 

15 semester hours in a major field of concentration.  These courses will include one research seminar. 

9 semester hours outside of the primary field of concentration. 

Total: 27 credit hours
