STUDENT UPDATES

 

 Valerie O'Brien, Ph.D. candidate, received the first-place award for Best Graduate Student Presentation for her talk "Invasive House Sparrows as Alternative Hosts for Buggy Creek Virus" at the Oklahoma Academy of Sciences Fall Technical Meeting November 1, 2007. This was the inaugural award for the graduate student competition, with students from all over the state competing.

 

Bindhu Verghese (Ph.D., 2007) and Abinash Padhi (Ph.D., 2006) are the proud parents of Ankit Padhi.  Ankit was born on 11/20/07 at around 5:30 pm.  He weighed 6 pounds and 12 ounces and measured 20 inches long at birth.  Congratulations to the new parents!
