The Faculty-in-Residence program (FIR) provides a unique opportunity to further The University of Tulsa's commitment to integrating learning in and out of the classroom. It encourages and maximizes the quality and quantity of greater faculty student interaction in the residence halls and outside of the classroom by having faculty members live in apartments located within the residence halls.

Faculty in the program get a unique perspective on student life and great opportunities to interact with students in learning outside the classroom. This faculty involvement leads to community building, intellectual discussion and growth, career and idea exploration, creative thinking, and practice in lifelong and seamless learning. How do participant's in this program benefit? Students living in these halls have the opportunity to develop friendships and mentoring relationships with interesting and popular faculty members and their families.

Faculty-in-Residence have an impact on students by: Interacting with students in informal settings Providing informal academic advising Maintaining contact with students in the residence halls. The goal of the Faculty-in-Residence program is to provide a bridge between the formal academic program and the out of classroom learning and developmental activities of residents. The program develops opportunities for students to immerse themselves in a number of different educational and social communities and programs by having faculty and residence hall staffs develop programs that are relevant to students and enrich their academic experience.
