What is the First Year Residential Experience (FYRE) program?
If you are selected to be on FYRE, you will live with other first-year students in Twin South Hall during your first year at TU. Twin South Hall is co-ed living environment. In addition, there are a number of upper-class students who serve as Resident Assistants (RA). These RAs are there to ensure that you know your way around, have opportunities to make friends, and get help with any academic challenges that you might face.
What makes being on FYRE great?
Being on FYRE and living in Twin South Hall is different than living anywhere else on campus and will make your transition to life as a college student easier. As a participant in this program, you will:
- Receive help in getting involved in Twin South's Hall Government, and other on campus organizations.
- Get a jump on adapting to campus life.
- Become a member of a very close-knit community where many lasting friendships form.
- Live and interact with other first-year students.
- Have the opportunity to be an active part of hall activities.
- Grow in an atmosphere where community is not just a word but a lifestyle and where everyone works together to help first-year students succeed.
What is expected of participants?
The FYRE staff promotes a cooperative atmosphere on each floor by encouraging residents to maintain a positive attitude toward other residents and participate in planned activities. One of our goals is to develop a strong sense of community spirit and involvement.
Please note: All first-year students not in the FYRE program will live in a residence hall along with upperclass students. A resident assistant also lives on every floor in each of the residence halls and is available to help.
