Community Involvement
The Twin South community is only as strong as those that live there. If you sit back and wait for things to happen, chances are you'll be disappointed. But, if you plunge in and get involved in what Twin South has to offer, not only will you benefit as an individual but the whole group, as a whole, will as well!
- Studies show that students who get involved outside the classroom tend to do better in school and stay to finish thier degree.
- You meet a wider variety of people through involvement.
- Your ownership and pride in the community increases.
- You enhance your sense of belonging - thus Twin South is a place that you have helped create!

Tips for New Students
For many first-year students, coming to college may be their first experience living away from home for an extended period of time. This is why we have provided the following suggestions that may help you make the early adjustment period flow more smoothly:
- Be yourself when meeting new people. The first few weeks on campus can be a lonely period. You may have concerns about forming friendships. While it may seem like everyone else is self-confident and socially successful, the reality is that others are having the same concerns.
- Meaningful relationships dont happen overnight. Over time, college friendships have the potential to become lifelong friendships. As you have more and more experiences with new friends, communication will become more open and trust will build.
- New college students may feel like they are on an emotional roller coaster. Increased personal freedom can be both wonderful and overwhelming. You may experience a mixture of reactions to this experience. These feelings are normal and to be expected.
