Program Info
As the Director of Research and Manager of the Indoor Air Program (IAP) at The University of Tulsa since 1987, Dr. Richard Shaughnessy and his staff have established a program that is internationally recognized for its work dedicated to improving the indoor air quality in homes, schools and workplace environments. In addition, extensive research is ongoing which examines the impact of poor indoor air quality on the academic performance of our nation's students. The IAP is housed in the Chemical Engineering Department and The University of Tulsa and can utilize the experience of our staff microbiologist, Dr. Estelle Levetin.
Dr. Shaughnessy has been heavily involved in National IAQ Conference membership for over 20 years and has taught and conducted research abroad in China, Australia, South Africa and Scandinavia. He has published extensively with respect to his studies on particulate research, air cleaner evaluations, indoor chemistry, flooring studies, children's asthma and housing conditions, and resolution and remediation of bioaerosol related problems.
Mr. Randy Smith has served as Technical Coordinator for the IAP since 2001 and brings over 22 years of project design and implementation experience to the program. Mr. Smith may be contacted at 918-631-3290.
