Tulsa, a city of 550,000 people, lies between the Southwest and Midwest. It has been described as "one of America's most livable cities." The skyline is evidence of the health of corporate Tulsa. More than 50 major companies are headquartered here. Yet quiet, bungalow-lined streets exist just a few blocks away form the city bustle. |

| The most important attribute of any city is its people. To say that Tulsans are friendly is an understatement. This is a place where people wave and say "good morning" as they pass you on the bicycle trail or greet you by name on campus.
If you like to bask in the sun, you'll love Tulsa! Although the city enjoys four distinct seasons, the climate is mild. Snow falls occasionally during the winter, but warm days extend from March through October. The favorable weather allows for a variety of activities at the city's parks and nearby lakes, where you can enjoy boating and jet skiing. Some parks are rugged, tempting the brave with rock climbing, while other parks feature formal gardens. In-line skating and bicycling are popular activities along Tulsa's River Parks, a well-developed system of jogging trails along the Arkansas River. City slickers can take advantage of horseback riding and still catch experimental theatre in the park during the evening. |

Cultural opportunities abound in Tulsa, and most attractions have special discount rates for TU students. For example, the Tulsa Performing Arts Center (PAC) regularly features nationally and internationally renowned artists. Home to the Tulsa Philharmonic, Tulsa Ballet Theatre, and Tulsa Opera, PAC is the hub for the city's active cultural and social life. Also, New York Theater productions and well-known entertainers perform at Tulsa's Maxwell Convention Center. Several fine theater groups are located in Tulsa as well as three distinguished museums - the Philbrook Museum of Art, housed in a Florentine-style villa, the Fenster Museum of Jewish Art, and the famous Gilcrease Museum of American History and Art. |
| In many ways, Tulsa is the ideal college town. Woodland Hills Mall, with more than 160 stores; Utica Square, with everything from small specialty shops to Saks Fifth Avenue; the convenient Promenade Mall; and others keep even the most avid shopper busy. The downtown Main Mall contains a four-block zone of stores and host concerts and citywide events throughout the year. The historic and entertaining Brookside and Cherry Street areas contain a wide variety of specialty shops and local flavor restaurants. | |
