Please read below before submitting an International Undergraduate Application

"The classes at TU are small. I always get a chance to ask a question or begin an academic discussion. Because the ratio of students to professors is low, professors are always accessible to students."

CONDITIONAL ADMISSION

Freshman applicants who show academic promise but whose records are inconsistent with average performance of entering students may be offered conditional admission. A student admitted conditionally is monitored by the collegiate advising office, limited in the number of credit hours for the first year of enrollment, and required to maintain a 2.0 cumulative grade point average during that time. Students admitted conditionally will be referred to the Center for Student Academic Support for academic support services.

TRANSFER APPLICANTS

Transfer applicants must be in good standing at the institution last attended. Students who have been dismissed or suspended from any college or university cannot be considered for admission until one calendar year has elapsed. Credit earned at another college or university during the dismissal period will not be applied for credit toward a degree from The University of Tulsa unless approved by the readmitting dean. Transfer students who were previously enrolled at The University of Tulsa and were dismissed must petition the dean of their college of enrollment for readmission.

ENGLISH PROFICIENCY

A thorough knowledge of written and spoken English is essential for study at The University of Tulsa. You must be able to understand rapid, idiomatic English and to express yourself both verbally and in writing to be successful in the program. All international students (freshman and transfer) whose first language is not English are required to provide evidence of English proficiency. If you are academically admissible, but lack the necessary English proficiency, you may be advised to enroll in the English Institute for International Students located on the TU campus. Students transferring from a college or university in the US with at least 30 semester hours of academic coursework are exempt from this requirement. Contact the English Institute for more information.

BANK VERIFICATION OF FINANCIAL RESOURCES

The United States Immigration and Naturalization Service requires that you file a statement with the university that shows adequate financial support for your education. If a government or agency sponsors you, such sponsors must provide an official letter with an original signature and a current date clearly indicating that financial support will cover all costs, additional evidence of funding for uncovered expenses is required. If your spouse and children will accompany you, the sponsorship letter should also mention coverage for your dependents. If the sponsorship does not include your dependents, then you should provide evidence of sufficient financial means of support by submitting a letter from the sponsor's bank.
