WebCT (Online Learning)

WebCT is a web-based learning management system. Instructors using WebCT can present course materials to students for anytime access through the web. All enrolled students, faculty and full-time staff have a login to WebCT.

WebCT includes several tools that can be used to enhance courses depending on instructors' use including grades, communications, quizzes, surveys, and group work.

Faculty interested in using WebCT should go to our Faculty Resource Center site for special details on using WebCT in instruction.

Access Information

We have three main areas in WebCT:

  1. Courses - this is used for campus courses, departments, and research.
  2. Organizations - this is used for organizations on campus that use WebCT for communication and organization workings.
  3. Outreach - this area is use for programs such as continuing education as well as special academies. 

To access the Courses area, you must know your campus user name and password. To access a specific course in WebCT, you must be added to the course by our automatic enrollment from Datatel or by the instructor unless it is a course that allows self-registration.

If you are on campus open a browser (either Internet Explorer or Firefox) and webct in the address bar.  When you are off campus use the full address of webct.utulsa.edu.

You may access vista with the following steps:

  1. Go to webct and click on My Courses.
  2. Click on Courses on the next page to login to the Courses area.   Otherwise, choose Orgs or Outreach.
  3. Click Login.  Enter your campus user name and password.

Check Your Browser

When logging into WebCT you will a check browser window which identifies your browser and plug-ins.  This check is done for known compatibilities with the current version of Blackboard Vista.

We recommend Firefox on both Windows and Mac operating systems.  Internet Explorer and Safari will work.   Java is also used in Blackboard Vista.
