Dear Mrs. Ferguson,

 

 

The Tulsa University Chapter of NALSA members, were given the opportunity to tour the Sac and Fox Juvenile Detention Facility at Stroud, Oklahoma. This tour took place on March 23, 2001.

 

Our members were enlightened, as to the possibilities that this type of facility could provide for the different Tribes in the State of Oklahoma, and the different Tribes through out the Nation. The Members got a first hand look at the daily operations of the facility, and the benefits it could offer Native American youth in the surrounding communities.

 

It was explained to our members how the facility had contracted with the State agencies and the military, to benefit the Sac and Fox Nation Financially.

 

The members learned how the Sac and Fox Nation is utilizing the facility to promote spiritual growth of Native American detainees.
