2005-2006 SBA ACHIEVEVEMENTS AND AGENDA

FALL 2005 SBA ACHIEVEMENTS

  • Addressed issues regarding reducing/amending the enrichment requirement.
  • Sent a letter to the National Jurist Editor discussing the wrongful nature of information published in their magazine about TU Law’s employment statistics.
  • Worked with the faculty to implement an advising program for TU Law students.
  • Requested that the school hire an independent consultant, and participated in informing the independent consultant regarding controversial issues on campus.
  • Gave substantial and valuable feedback regarding the Spring Schedule before it was finalized.
  • Advocated strongly for the hiring of Professor Greg Duhl.
  • Implemented an accountability system for the student organizations. 
  • Passed a recommendation requesting that the Pitt be remodeled.
  • Organized a community service activity at Crestview Hospital.
  • SBA Halloween Party.
  • Sold TU Law Merchandise to raise funds for organizations and to begin a TU Law pride campaign.
  • Participated in efforts to raise funds and collect food and clothes for Hurricane Katrina victims.
  • Worked with career services to increase the number of employers interviewing on campus.

 

SPRING 2006 SBA AGENDA

  • Increasing awareness of the importance of student evaluations.
  • Looking into matters regarding the benefits of focusing on teaching methods that will help students pass the bar.
  • Making students aware of the importance of full disclosure and honesty on their admissions application and bar application.
  • Gathering data about the grading system in other regional law schools, to compare with the current grading system at TU Law.
  • Addressing issues that will help 3Ls to be better prepared for the bar.
  • Golf Tournament.
  • Barrister’s Ball.
