Collection Inventory

Diary   19.6 x 12.4 x 2 cm Black cloth-covered boards with bands of green, white, and red in upper left corner; oak leaf design on pastedowns; and sewn sinatures of lined paper. Stamped in gold on the front cover is "Kriegstagebuch. Gewidmet vom A.H. Verband des Vereins. Gluck zu! Kriegsweihnachten 1916." [Possible translation: War Diary. Dedicated by the A.H. Association/Club. Luck too! War Christmas 1916.] The pre-printed title page reads "The truthful and faithful to the Fatherland! War Diary", followed by spaces provided for name, address, rank, promotions, awards, etc. which Forster filled in with the appropirate information. The diary contains 60 pages, but only 40 pages have been used. Gold stamped on the back cover : "G Z !" [presumably an abreviation for and reference to Gluck zu (Luck too)].
