Biographical/Historical note

Ruby Mae Jones was born on July 29, 1898 in Bonham, Texas. She was the oldest of four surviving children. She graduated from Abilene High School in Abilene, TX. Her family moved to Hugo, Oklahoma in 1917. She graduated from the University of Tulsa in 1923 and earned a Master's degree from the University of Oklahoma. She taught in Tulsa Public schools for 43 years. She was a writer and served as a guest lecturer in speech at TU. She published in educational journals, church magazines and the local papers. She loved writing and reading poetry. She was a member of several sororites, societies and civic groups in and around Tulsa, OK.

Scope and Contents note

Family and personal memorabilia of Tulsa woman who enjoyed a long career in the Tulsa public schools. She wrote and collected various poems. Goethe was one poet and writer that she enjoyed. Albert Schweitzer was one of her favorite composers. She followed Dr. Schweitzer's career closely. She personally wrote an unpublished juvenile novel. She wrote articles and poems that were published in various newspapers.
