Campus Parking Plan
The university developed the parking plan with significant input from all segments of the TU community. With cooperation from all TU stakeholders, the plan brings much-needed structure to the parking system and establishes a more fair and equitable parking situation for all. The Hurricane Shuttle service also will increase campus accessibility and convenience.
Key components of the parking plan include:
- All parking permits will be parking lot-specific, or "non-roving." Under this system, a car may be parked only in its designated lot. The only exception is that shuttle lots will be open to all permits.
- Permit fees will vary depending whether the requester is either a campus resident or nonresident and, in some cases, the choice of designated lot.
- Registration for parking permits will be conducted on a first-come, first-served basis within groups sequenced in the following order: full-time faculty, all other employees, resident students, and nonresident students. Registration will be available online or at the ID/Parking Center Office.
- Online Registration is available by following the Registration link on
this page. The link is also available under the Home tab after logging
into myTU at https://myTU.utulsa.edu. Both options will require the user
to use his/her authorized userid/TU password to access the secure
parking site.
- The needs of campus residents will be met by reserving for them parking spaces in residential and dual purpose lots. Dual purpose lots allow parking for both residents and nonresidents. Following the selection period for nonresident students and on campus residents, any excess parking capacity in dual purpose lots would be made available to other campus groups.
- The majority of nonresident campus lots will be designated as "open lots" for all permit classifications from 4 p.m. to 7 a.m. on weekdays, and 24 hours a day on weekends, beginning at 4:00 p.m. on Fridays and ending at 7 a.m. Monday. Residential lots and the premium nonresidential lots will be restricted 24 hours a day to those permitted vehicles only. Additionally, no weekend parking is allowed in the United Methodist Church lot.
- Lots may be closed for special events, athletic events or for maintenance.
- To ensure fairness to all members of the TU community, increased parking enforcement will be a priority. Cars that are parked in premium lots in violation of TU parking regulations will be subject to towing without warning.
- The Hurricane Shuttle system will be enhanced through additional buses, expanded campus routes, and construction of several shelters for waiting passengers. The goal is to service each stop on the route approximately every seven minutes.
