Position Summary
The Department of Communication Disorders seeks applications for a full-time, non-tenure track Applied Instructor of Deaf Education commencing August 15, 2009. Graduate degree in Deaf Education or related field and CED certification by August 1, 2009. Major responsibilities include teaching American Sign Language and Deaf Education methods courses, supervision of field-based practica, and student advising and recruitment.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicant should have knowledge and skills in the following areas: (1) methods of teaching students who are deaf or hard of hearing, (2) teaching American Sign Language, (3) bilingual education (ASL and English), and (4) working with children with cochlear implants.
Preferred Qualifications
Three years of classroom teaching experience with deaf/hard of hearing students and experience teaching American Sign Language at the university level is preferred.
