Position Summary
The Computing Technician reports to the Director of Computing Resources and will provide a wide array of technical support to faculty and staff. Specific responsibilities will include helping maintain faculty and staff computers, printers, and other technology and serving as needed for student technology support and classroom support.
Characteristic Duties
Configure, deploy, troubleshoot, and provide support for the College of Law’s computing infrastructure including PC’s, laptops, network and desktop printers, scanners, and various software applications Backup technician for student computer support, multimedia technologies, and classroom technology support Other duties as required by the department and the College of Law
Minimum Qualifications
An Associate’s Degree or equivalent education, preferably with a technology emphasis; two years of hands on experience with a variety of computer technologies including Microsoft Windows operating systems, Mac OS, Microsoft Office 2007, Corel WordPerfect X4, and a variety of PC hardware. Strong customer service, time management, and organizational skills are essential. This person will be required to lift computers, monitors, projectors, and audio/video equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree; web technologies including HTML, PHP, RSS, and database applications; knowledge of technical aspects of social networking technologies; knowledge of VMWare server and desktop technologies.
Hours
Hours are 9:00am to 4:00pm, Monday through Thursday. Work days and times may vary due to the nature of the university environment and the technical support responsibilities of this position.
