ENVIRONMENT, HEALTH AND SAFETY

Many federal, state, and local regulatory entities govern health and safety requirements. Those requirements must be met to be in compliance and avoid penalties to individuals and to the University. Certain standards require written plans to describe how the University will comply with the regulations. The following are University of Tulsa's written plans required by such regulatory entities as the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Environmental Protection Agency, Oklahoma Department of Labor, Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality, and Building Officials and Code Administrators International, Inc. They provide guidelines which the University community is required to follow.

All employees and students are responsible for following components of the developed program which apply to their work or study assignments. Summaries of general environment, health, and safety program requirements may be found in the University of Tulsa's Policies and Procedures Manual. More specific instructions may be found in the following university plans: Hazard Communication Program; Chemical Hygiene Plan; Exposure Control Plan for Bloodborne Pathogens; Hearing Conservation Plan; Permit-Required Confined Space Program; Energy Control Lockout/Tagout Plan; Welding and Cutting Permit System; Respiratory Protection Program; Building Emergency Plan; and the Emergency and Disaster Plan.  These plans are available from supervisors/advisors or at University of Tulsa's Environment, Health and Safety Plans.

All research programs shall be measured against the above program criteria and comply with the requirements.
