Advisory Committees to the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs

There are several advisory committees that aid the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs in evaluation of proposals for internal funding as well as checking for compliance with federal and state regulations.  The purpose and composition for each committee is listed below.

Faculty and Student Research Review Committee

The Faculty and Student Research Review Committee consist of a representative from each college who is appointed by the Collegiate Dean.  The Committee considers and makes recommendations regarding research policy, evaluates applications for the Faculty and Student Research Grant Programs, and recommends approval for selected proposals which meet program criteria.  The Associate Dean of Research and Graduate School will serve as ex-officio member and as chair of this committee.

Faculty Development Summer Fellowship Selection Committee

The Committee will evaluate applications submitted to the Faculty Development Summer Fellowship Program, and make recommendations for awards to the Vice President for Research.  The Committee will be composed of one faculty member each from the Colleges of Business Administration and Law, two faculty members from the College of Engineering and Natural Sciences, as well as three faculty members from the College of Arts and Sciences.

University Intellectual Property Committee

The University Intellectual Property Committee is appointed by the President and is composed of six members:  a faculty member from the College of Law, one or more faculty members from the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, two representatives from the Office of Research, and remaining Committee members from the University Graduate Faculty engaged in teaching or research.  In order to insure continuity of the activities of the Committee, the individual members are appointed for four-year terms of service; vacancies occurring on the Committee are filled by presidential appointment.  The Committee considers and makes recommendations to the President and the Board of Trustees concerning the review, establishment, and modification of University policies and procedures affecting intellectual property.  See the section University of Tulsa Research and Intellectual Property Policy, for details.
