TU Vice President to Receive Distinguished Service Award

The National Council of University Research Administrators has chosen Dr. Allen “Al” Soltow, Vice President for Research, University of Tulsa in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to receive its 2008 Distinguished Service Award.

The National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA) established the Distinguished Service Award in 2001, as a way to recognize members of NCURA who have made sustained and distinctive contributions to the organization.

Soltow has been a member of NCURA since 1977 and has served and supported the organization in many different capacities. Some of Soltow’s roles have included: serving as a member of the Board of Directors, the Nominating Committee and as an Advisor for the NCURA Leadership Development Committee. Additionally, Soltow has been instrumental in the recruitment of speakers for both Regional and National meetings.

NCURA’s Executive Director, Kathleen Larmett notes, “Allen Soltow has contributed to NCURA and to the advancement of the profession for over 30 years. I cannot think of anyone more deserving of this award than Al.”

Soltow will receive his award at the NCURA 50th Annual Meeting, during a special recognition ceremony on November 4, 2008, at the Hilton Washington and Towers in Washington, DC.

NCURA is a 7,000 member professional society dedicated to advancing the field of research administration through education and professional development programs, the sharing of knowledge and experience, and by fostering a professional, collegial, and respected community. The Council’s Annual Meeting takes place November 2 - 5, 2008.
