Crime Prevention Tips
- Always lock your car doors, and remove valuables (preferably from your car, and at least from sight).
- Always lock your door to your dorm, office, bathroom, etc.
- Engrave your valuables with your last name (engravers can provide hours of fun, and you can check them out at the security office for free!)
- Don’t leave your purse, wallet, books, backpack, or anything else lying around on desks.
- Call for a security escort after dark (it’s free!)
- Mark your clothes (things can get pretty hectic in the laundry room).
- Mark your CD’s (things can get hectic, and very ugly at check out time when your roommate can’t remember if that was her 50 Cent CD, or yours.) Sharpie pens work well.
- If you lose your Hurricane Gold Card - REPORT IT IMMEDIATELY. These are as good as cash.
- Don’t prop outer doors to dormitories open! This is how people from “the other side of the road” get in, and snag your stuff! Some look like students!
- Know where the Bluelight phones are located (East of Oliphant, North of Sorority Row, South of Chapman, south of Lottie Jane).
- Don’t give the codes to the interior doors of dorms to others, and watch who goes in after you.
- When you leave computer labs - REMEMBER TO LOG OFF!
- If you see something strange or unusual, and it isn’t just the usual bizarre college antics, CALL SECURITY!!
