Activities and Shopping
Activities and Shopping
Art Deco design from the 1920s is the architectural signature of Tulsa, and the city's personality reflects that same funky, playful feel.
Tulsa's temperate weather allows for outdoor activities year-round. From frisbee golf to dog parks to nationally renowned equine competitions and 5K runs, Tulsa has a venue to satisfy sports and outdoor enthusiasts alike. For shopping, the eclectic shops that fill Tulsa's unique neighborhoods provide an array of choices. Here are just a few of our picks, day and night.
Brookside
It's hard to define the atmosphere of one of Tulsa's best shopping and party district, located on Peoria between 21st and 41st. During the day it's part bohemian, part uber-hip specialty shops. But at night, it's all party animal.
Cherry Street
As you drive, walk, or bike west down 15th street, you'll notice a huge transformation. Cherry Street, roughly running from Lewis to Peoria on 15th Street, is full of surprises. Playful shops during the day make this a great place to window shop and maybe make your own beaded jewelry or stained glass creation. At night, street parties sponsored by the neighborhood pubs and restaurants make this a casual, fun place to go. Also, don't forget the Saturday morning farmer's market!
Downtown
The heartbeat of Tulsa has gone through a major revitalization recently, with a brand new 19,000-seat arena, remodeled historic concert hall, and an explosion of new bars and nightclubs. The "Blue Dome District" and "Brady District" are favorite areas for shopping and nightlife. But don't miss the restaurants and bars at 18th and Boston too.
Utica Square
Utica Square specializes in atmosphere, with upscale shops like Saks Fifth Avenue, Miss Jackson's, Coach, Pottery Barn, Williams Sonoma, and much more. This outdoor mall is perfect for a nice stroll, and the Starbuck's provides just the right atmosphere for a casual business meeting or study session. Don't forget to check out Utica Square's FREE summer concerts and winter Christmas lights--they are Tulsa traditions!
South Tulsa
Midtown and Downtown represent Tulsa's heritage, but South Tulsa is competing for Tulsa's future. Sparkling new buildings, the hottest new shops, and plenty of parking make this area a tantalizing treat.
Midtown
11th Street, home of TU's Campus Entrance is part of the original Route 66 that crossed mid-land America. 11th street is home to restaurants and late night Taco-Bell runs, and The Buccaneer Bar.
